Rider Profile 7: Nathan Brigham

Here we are with our seventh rider profile and he is perhaps one of the most infamous members of this year’s ride. It is his second time as a member of the Ride to Northampton team and this year he will be joined by his brother.
Meet, Red and Blue favourite Nath.

Age: 21
Occupation: Full Time Red & Blue Forum Poster (when not banned)
Favourite York Player: Marvin McCoy
Favourite York Game: Halifax at home where we won 3-2 with an Alex Meechan tap-in after being 2-0 down. Billy Mac went wild!

Question 1 – Simply, Why?!
Last year was one of the best experiences of my life, cycling all that distance with my closest mates and raising a great amount for charity, I’d be a fool not to do the whole thing again.

Question 2 – How much preparation have you done so far and how much do you plan on doing?
I do one or two 30+ mile session with Dan a month and cycle to work everyday. Hoping to step that up because last year’s hills nearly destroyed me.

Question 3 – What do you think you will bring to the bike ride?
I’ll play my part with regards to fundraising and also encouragement/ motivation for all the lads because we’re going to need it!

Question 4 – What do you think will be the hardest aspect of the ride?
Definitely the hills, obviously Corker Hill will be the hardest. There’s also the issue of having to put up with Patto for three full days which will be just as tough.

Question 5 – Who are you looking forward to biking with the most and the least?
Most – God’s Gift/Corker, simply for his one liners and helmet.
Least – My brother Ryan because the sun will reflect off his bald head and blind me whilst I’m cycling.

Question 6 – If you could choose any York City player either past or present to bike with you, who would it be?
My boy Marv. He would ride with me on a tandem providing he wore his banana boots. I’d sing the ‘We’ve got McCoy’ song all the way there. Happy Days!

Question 7 – Do you predict any injuries or falls for yourself or other riders?
Myself – last year the hills really affected my knees but I did have my bike in the highest until Craig pointed it out. Ian’s knees will take a battering as will Pinder’s but they should have the determination to pull through.

Question 8 – What’s the first thing you’ll do when you finish?
Have a well earned pint and watch City get battered.
