Ahead of this year’s ride, we are profiling each rise who is taking part to find out a little bit more about them and discover why they are taking on the challenge.
Ash Taylor is the next rider into the hot-seat to explain why he is doing the journey to Northampton for a second time.

Favourite York game: It has to be beating Luton in the play off final in 2012!
Question 1- Why?!
To raise money for a great cause and have a laugh at the same time.
Question 2- How much preparation have you done so far and how much do you plan on doing?
Last year I did 12 miles 3 days before we started and I was knackered after that but managed to scrape through the actual ride! So the answer to those 2 questions are none, and none.
Question 3- What do you think you will bring to the bike ride?
Not much in terms of leadership, navigation, fixing bikes.. or anything useful really! Definitely more of a ‘making up the numbers’ kind of guy. If Team Sky signed us all up I would put myself down as a domestique/ water boy.
Question 4- What do you think will be the hardest part of the ride?
Facing Corker Hill again, trying to sleep in the same room as my brother and sitting down on the bike at the beginning of day 2 and 3.
Question 5- Who are you looking forward to biking with the most and the least?
The most – everyone apart from Tom Poole, who would be my least, only because I’ll be jealous of how warm he’ll be in the passenger seat of the van!
Question 6- If you could choose any York player either past of present to bike with you, who would it be?
Lindon Meikle orJamal Fyfield so that I could ask them what kind of witchcraft they have carried out to become professional footballers.
Question 7- Do you predict any injuries or falls for yourself or other riders?
I think I should be OK in terms of injuries, may have a couple of falls. I can see some reoccurring injuries for other riders from last year though.
Question 8- What’s the first thing you’ll do when you finish?
Find a bar/ collapse/ both.
