December Update

With now just under two months until departure from Bootham Crescent, things are beginning to step up at Ride to Northampton HQ (which is spread across three cities this year!)

All riders will be receiving t-shirts and posters that have been kindly provided by the British Heart Foundation within the next few days and hopefully  the posters will help to raise more awareness across the numerous places that the riders currently reside.

We are delighted that York City FC have agreed to let us hold a bucket collection ahead of the Boxing Day home game v Northampton Town. Many of the riders will be present in the Bootham Crescent car park in the hours ahead of the game, so come and say hello, ask questions and most importantly, put some spare change in their buckets.

Final arrangements for this years raffle are being confirmed and we hope to be able to announce the commencement of ticket sales as well as a date as soon as possible. If anyone has any more prizes that they would be willing to donate towards the raffle then please get in contact through our twitter page or email ian.jones@novainteriors.co.uk or jackshoe@hotmail.com.

And last but not least, two of the riders created their own little tasks to encourage some donations to fly in ahead of Christmas. Nathan Brigham promised to shave his head if the target hit £600 before Christmas Day. Less than two weeks later and that target was met. To his credit ‘Nath’ followed through with his promise and pictures can be seen on the twitter page.
Organiser Ian Jones also set a target, this time of £800, again by Christmas Day and if this is met he will get a body wax! So get donating!

As always, we are grateful for the continued support of everyone. If you have any suggestions or potential ways that you could offer support (promotion, fundraising suggestions etc.) between now and February 4th then please get in touch.

Many Thanks,
RideToNorthampton2

Target 600 – Get Nath Bald!

£354.86 Raised at Family Fun Day

After a mainly dry day at Bootham Crescent, we are happy to say that our first pre-cycle fundraising event was a success, raising £354.86 in the process. The winners of the match warn shirts were as follows;

• Signed Jon Challinor Wembley shirt – Tom Rathmell – £151.00

• Stephane Zubar shirt – Tom Poole – £42.76

• Michael Ingham shirt (late entrance) – Ian Jones – £65.00

A big thank you must be said to Darren Skillbeck and family members who supplied the best home made buns and cakes of the day, with even the York City coaching staff eager to tuck in. Another thank you goes to Martyn Jones for selling a variety of football programmes from throughout the years and for giving the people of York just a small fraction of his irrelevant knowledge. Lastly, the biggest thanks goes to all those who came down, bid, bought and gave their support to us for another year in the saddle, the event would be nothing without your support or donations and every rider and member involved greatly appreciates your generosity.

On to the next event!

Jon Challinor Playoff Final Shirt and Stephane Zubar Match Worn Shirt Auctions

At Sunday’s York City Family Fun Day, Ride To Northampton 2 will be represented by a number of this years riders at our own stall. Featuring a selection of cakes and football programmes to purchase, we shall also have the opportunity to win a jar of sweets and to throw sponges at some of the riders who have volunteered.

Also on our stall we shall have two silent auctions taking place. The first auction will be for Jon Challinor’s Wembley Play-Off Final shirt from 2012 where York City famously beat Luton Town to secure promotion back to the football league. Jon has even signed the shirt and we can’t thank him enough for his amazing donation.

The second silent auction taking place at the stall will be for former York City loanee Stephane Zubar’s match-worn shirt from the fixture at Northampton Town last season. Stephane handed his shirt to Joe Fletcher who was part of last season’s Ride To Northampton. We thank Joe for donating this shirt to be auctioned on Sunday.

If you are interested in placing a bid for either shirt, then visit our stand and fill out a bid slip on Sunday between 11am and 3pm at Bootham Crescent.

If you cannot attend the Fun Day but would like to place a bid then please follow our twitter account @ycfc_2_ntfc and then send us a ‘direct message’ with the following information:
• Bid item name
• Bid
• Name
• Address
• Telephone

If you cannot attend on Sunday and do not have Twitter but would like to place a bid for either shirt then please email Ian Jones at ian.jones@novainteriors.co.uk with the above information.

WE ASK THAT ALL BIDS SENT BY TWITTER OR EMAIL ARE DONE SO BY 3PM ON SUNDAY 26th JULY.

The HIGHEST UNIQUE bid will win the auction for each shirt and all money raised from the shirt auctions and the rest of the activities on the stall will go straight to the fundraising effort which is for the British Heart Foundation in memory of David Henderson. The JustGiving page can be found at www.justgiving.com/ridetonorthampton2

We look forward to seeing many of you at Bootham Crescent on Sunday!

Come and Say Hello at the York City Family Funday – This Sunday

funday

We are pleased to confirm that we will have a stand at this Sunday’s York City Family Funday which will take place at Bootham Crescent from 11am until 3pm.

The fun day at Bootham Crescent is always a great occasion with the opportunity to meet the players, have a stadium tour and get involved in a whole host of activities.

Come and visit us at our stall where a number of the riders (both new and old) will be present. They’ll be more than happy to tell you all about last years ride as well give updates on how plans for this years effort are progressing.

In addition to the guaranteed laughter provided by stories from last year, there will be the opportunity to throw wet sponges at some of us who have “willingly” volunteered.

Alongside the sponge throwing, there will be:
– A chance to enter the auction for Stephane Zubar’s match worn shirt from last season’s game at Northampton.
– A chance to win a jar of sweets, simply by guessing how many are in the jar!
– A number of old York City programmes available to browse and purchase.
and much more.

All money raised from our stand on Sunday will be added to the fundraising pot for this years ride. The justgiving page is now open and can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/ridetonorthampton2/

Keep up to date with all the news, gossip and announcements right here on the website or on our twitter page @ycfc_2_ntfc and keep spreading the word so we can make this year even better than last year!

We look forward to seeing many of you on Sunday and thank you for your continued support and contributions.

We’re Doing It Again!

After the huge success of last years RideToNorthampton, organiser Ian Jones has decided to do it all over again in a bid to raise even more money for the British Heart Foundation in David Henderson’s memory. This year, there will be 17 riders taking on the challenge which is more than last year! Thank you to all those who have volunteered, we hope you know what you have let yourselves in for!

Keep an eye on this website and our twitter page @ycfc_2_ntfc for the latest news and updates on fundraising events.
